The Social Work Practice Resource Center (SWPRC)
Launched in June 2008 and sponsored by BPSW, the SWPRC aims to strengthen social work practice and support social work practitioners by integrating social work practice, knowledge, skills and values into social service systems.
In partnership with the Indonesian government and local/international NGOs and universities, it develops training for community workers and staff, as well as local models for social work practice in specialized fields of practice.
The center, located in Jakarta, hosts an active website and listserv for disseminating information. It also has launched an innovative continuing education and training program for social workers to update their existing skills and network.
Model Programs:
School Social Work in Bayat, Central Java (2008-9) with Titian Foundation. BPSW and SWPRC placed a professional social worker at an elementary-junior high school rebuilt by Titian foundation after a devastating earthquake in Central Java in 2006. BPSW provided supervision and ongoing evaluation of the role and practices of the social worker, who organized parent participation and community involvement in the school. This project was completed with a full evaluation in May 2009.
Social Work Club:
The SWPRC hosts a listserv for discussion and networking. The
Club has also invited guests to present and lead discussions on-line.
Associates Program:
The SWPRC maintains a database of social work professional associates
who are available throughout Indonesia for training and consultation.
